BECOMING A BARTENDER
67
In today's economy having a second job is sometimes a necessity and why not supplement with a fun and fulfilling career as a bartender? A Bartender is a person who mixes and serves drinks at a bar. Sounds Like fun huh? Bartenders don't have to go to bartending school most bartending jobs offer some kind of on the job training.
While working at a bar you will encounter a variety of many different types of people who will tell you all of their business and probably swear that you are their favorite and give you lots of tips. That is until you cut them off from the juice. Still sounds like fun? one of the first things that you should know about bartending is that it is hard work; not only do you have to mix drinks, you have to serve the waitresses, wash the dishes and make sure the liquor and beer are always in stock. Check Id if necessary as well as make sure the drinks are mixed properly. Be sure not to serve to the already drunk, listen to the next gal or guy talk about what a dog their ex is. All of this has to be done with a smile and nice compliments. The friendlier you are the more tips you tend to make. Having a bad day is not an option.
Still sounds fun? Well of course you will meet a lot of people but the drunker they are the meaner they are. Some of them don't even have to be drunk to be mean. "It's just the way they are", whatever that means. Even the good patrons forget to tip when they are intoxicated, so don't take it personal.
Still want to Bartend? If you are not a people's person then you probably should stop reading now. If you are and want to guard a bunch of drunk adults then give it a shot. Just remember that this is a real job that can sometimes be atoned for by the tips you receive at the end of the night. You might even enjoy the drunkard comments on how great you are. They probably won't even remember you in the morning but you will remember them and their comments.
9 key points to remember
* Personality is key ( smiling alot)
* Patience is a gift that you must have
* You must really want to do this (Love your work)
* Watch the waitresses to see what is what, which drinks are which
* Watch other bartenders
* Attend any training that is offered by your employer
* Learn to mix the drinks properly
* Pay attention this is real big; your job as well as some one's life might depend on how much attention you pay.
* Remember that bartending school is no substitute for real bar experience.
Good Luck and wear Good Shoes, you'll thank me!!!!!

GLAD TO SEE ANOTHER HUB FROM YOU
GOD BLESS YOU
An interesting hub voted awesome because you loaded it with beautiful information.
Hi again, Hair. I worked as a bar back when I was younger, and it is hard work, sometimes fun, sometimes a nightmare. I also worked as a bar maid, but at that time I got high on the job so I don't know if it was easy or not. I always thought it was great, but then I was high or drinking on the job. LOL. The money is okay, but you won't get rich. Not a bad job to have going through college if you can get enough sleep at night to pass your exams. Bar staff tend to go out to the really late night bars after the bar closes, so sleep may not happen as soon as it should. (: v
